A somewhat ironic post
We are starting a project which is at this point called Open Engine. This will almost definitely change very soon and may change many times, however the goal will remain the same. We aim to create something which does not yet exist. Something new.
We aim to make an adaptable, modular, scalable gaming engine.
By this we mean an environment in which the game content, such as media, storyline, object interaction, and so on are seperate from the engine. This would mean that an engine designed for a low-end machine would be able to play the same content as the engine on a high end machine while performing at an appropriate level for the machine it is on.
This will be a massive project and needs to gradually build from it's current status (non-existent) into something usable. For now the layout is the important part as we do not want to make things hard for ourselves by having to rewrite everything many times to make it all fit together.
